Over the past couple of months ,our Inter and Senior students have been working incredibly hard, making their own short films, and on SAT DEC 10th we have our very own screening and ‘Oscar’ style Awards ceremony!
Our ‘critic’ and judge for the evening will be ex-student Tom Middleton.Tom studied Politics and Economics at Newcastle University and then went on to do a Masters of Television Journalism from Goldsmiths University London where he graduated with distinction.
After University Tom spent time working at the BBC on the Radio 4 programme You and Yours, before working for a variety of small production companies. He began working with Bastille at the beginning of their career, recording their early gigs and making low budget music videos. This relationship evolved to a full-time position as the bands videographer and Tom recently finished a long-form music documentary covering the bands success and the making of the second album. The film, "Help Me Chase Those Seconds", has been screened at Prince Charles cinema in Leicester Square and at the Grammy Museum in LA. The response has been extremely positive and Tom is currently working out what the next steps for the film will be.Alongside his work with the band Bastille, Tom is part of a directing duo called 'Crooked Cynics', making music videos for a variety of recording artists and working with some of the biggest record labels in the world,www.crookedcynics.com. Tom is currently writing a short film which he hopes will be in production soon.We are also thrilled to have with us, another ex-student, Michael Bell (stage name : Michael James) who will be our compere for the evening. Michael was recently seen in the BBC drama ‘Our Girl’, starring Michelle Keegan, where he played the evil ISIS terrorist : Jason Raynott, AKA as Abu and we are very grateful to him for giving up his time to be with us. We will be posting all the films and results in the next few weeks!
